I wanted the violet to feel deep rather than sweet. Darker ground gives the amethyst colour somewhere to glow, and the stones break that colour into smaller flashes as the hand turns. The arrangement is a little irregular, like lights seen through a night sky. It is a dramatic set, but the detail is worth coming closer for.
